Is it for me?

People who come to our workshops suffer from mental ill health including anxiety, depression, personality disorders, schizophrenia and self-diagnosed mental distress. Our service is not suitable for people in a crisis, with dementia, SEN, higher spectrum autism, or people with  a current alcohol or drug dependence.

We offer you a safe environment where you can be yourself and don’t have to put on a mask (unless we make one of course☺).

Arty-Folks is definitely not like school!  The atmosphere is very informal and relaxing and activities are suitable for all abilities.  The workshops are led by professional artists and everyone works with the same materials so we can learn from each other.

You will meet like-minded people and have fun while exploring a wide range of arts and crafts like drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, ceramics, mosaics, textile, etc.  Usually after the fourth workshops people start feeling ‘at home’.

The Arty-Folks Mentor at workshops will provide information and guidance to help you resolve obstacles on your recovery journey and to explore further opportunities in the community.

We offer Art as Therapy, a programme of four weekly and distinct art groups that are structured into progressive stepping stones to increase mental well-being and anchor in the community.  But there is no short cut – one step at a time that starts by joining the Wednesday group 12.30-2.30 at Holyhead Studios, 16 Lower Holyhead Road CV1 3AU
